Tricia was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. She inherited a love for the land from her grandfather, a local homesteader whose potato farms once filled Chena Hot Springs Road. Her childhood was filled with adventures of camping, fishing, and foraging in the Alaska wilderness.

In 2016, Tricia graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks with a bachelor’s in Child Development and Family Studies. With over 13 years of experience working with children inside and outside the classroom, Tricia has honed her skills and developed an appreciation for play-based learning. She currently homeschools her children, infusing their education with the same sense of wonder she had growing up.

Outside education, Tricia loves picking blueberries, tending to her garden and bees, and hiking throughout Alaska. When she is not outdoors, Tricia can often be found in the kitchen, baking delicious sourdough creations to share with loved ones.

Tricia is excited to merge her passion for nature and education at Small Forest School, leading her students on a journey of discovery, curiosity, and play.
