Randy grew up in eastern Oklahoma on a small family ranch. His family raised cattle, chickens, hogs and grew a small family garden every summer. They used the land for hunting and fishing along with their domesticated livestock. Exploring eastern Oklahoma's rich cultural history, from evidence of prehistoric peoples and animals that once lived in the area, along with Oklahoma's geological history captured in the surrounding soil layers, were just some of the amazing opportunities Randy had growing up in rural Oklahoma.

Randy received an associates degree in forestry from Eastern Oklahoma State College near Wilburton, Oklahoma in 1983. Soon after graduation he moved to East Texas where he started a 30 year fire and forestry career with the (USFS) United State Forest Service. During his service he was the (FMO) Fire Management Officer for the Winona Ranger District in Perryville, Arkansas and later in his career he became the Center Manager of the (AOICC) Arkansas Oklahoma Interagency Coordination Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas coordinating all local, state and federal resources from across Arkansas and Oklahoma for federal incident response. Additionally, he supported all risk incidents across the entire US and some foreign countries.

After his 30 year career with the USFS he retired in 2013 and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska with his wife Hilary. She and Randy have four beautiful grown children, three of which live in the lower 48 and just recently theyโve had the fortune of their youngest daughter moving to Fairbanks and starting a career with the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

About four years ago Randy came out of retirement and started a small handyman business here in Fairbanks. He loves meeting people from central Alaska and helping them with small projects that he hopes they will enjoy for years to come.
